"Blooming Together"

This painting has a lovely story that I'd love to share with you:

I had just started working on two paintings of my spring collection of daffodils and pansies, and I was having a nap while my toddler was napping, too. There was this one pansy in my backyard planter that fascinated me more than any of the others - it was light blue with a bright yellow (almost golden) center.

And as I was having a rest, this special pansy came into my mind. I saw the background it would fit in, and the image of a coffee cup from my mom’s house. A coffee cup? It was very unexpected, but I had the strong feeling that I was supposed to add this to my spring collection: The bright blue-yellow pansy in a coffee cup … I gave him a friend: another pansy that I didn’t consider putting into a painting of its own. Now there are these two little fellows, sitting in this coffee cup like two friends in a boat on the wide ocean, and I couldn’t love this picture more. For me, this is a story of true inspiration bringing alive something very special.
